Tim Marsh, Managing Director, announced that his new firm — which is committed to globally interoperable standards for healthcare — has decided to take an active role in GS1 US and GS1 Global. Their intended focus is on healthcare and progressing standards that serve patients and industry. Supply Chain Security Parters will assume ownership of the MCL GS1 Membership from Marsh’s previous company by the end of 2015.
Marsh stated, “GS1 standards are key to the healthcare industry’s ability to comply with emerging regulations. I’ve experienced the benefits derived for patient safety when AIDC standards are deployed appropriately.” The move will also permit MCL to better serve clients in the consumer goods and foods sectors as they look to benefit from the supply chain visibility enabled by interoperable standards.
Marsh went on to say, “I’ve enjoyed contributing to the standards effort since 2004 and believe our continued support will deliver benefits for GS1 as well as our clients.” SCSP’s immediate focus of support to GS1 will be with the Health Care Public Policy Team. Marsh also serves as co-chair for the Mobile Scanning & Digital Shelf Identification (MDID) Working Group.
GS1 is an international not-for-profit association with Member Organizations in over 100 countries. GS1 is dedicated to the design and implementation of global standards and solutions to improve the efficiency and visibility of supply and demand chains globally and across sectors. The GS1 system of standards is the most widely used supply chain standards system in the world.
